“Along the Great Silk Road.” Duration: 4 days / 3 nights
Route: Dashoguz – Kunya-Urgench – Darvaza – Ashgabat – Mary – Turkmenabad – Farab.
1 day
Meeting of the group at the Turkmen-Uzbek border. Transfer to Kunya-Urgench. Excursion to the architectural monuments of Kunya-Urgench, the capital of Khorezm in the 10th-12th centuries. During the excursion we will visit the mausoleums of Najm Ad-Din Al-Kubra, Tyurabek Khanym, Il-Arslan, Tekesh, Ibn-Hajib, and examine the tallest minaret of Kutlyk-Timur in Central Asia. After lunch we hit the road to visit the Gas Crater in the town of Darvaza, where we will spend the night in tents. Dinner.
2 day
After breakfast we depart for Ashgabat, hotel accommodation. Dinner. After lunch, the group will go to the town of Bagir to visit the Parthian fortress of Nisa. Excursion to the Horse Farm – to get acquainted with the pride of the Turkmen people – the Akhal-Teke horse. Dinner.
3 day
This day will be devoted to sightseeing in the capital of Turkmenistan. We will explore new parks, with a huge complex of fountains and statues of great people of antiquity, and visit the National Museum of History. After lunch, transfer to Mary. Hotel accommodation, dinner.
4 day
After breakfast, the group goes on a tour of Ancient Merv, visiting its five cities, the largest mausoleum of the 12th century – the mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar, the mausoleum of Mohammed Ibn Zeid, as well as other significant objects. Afterwards our group will go to Turkmenabad – Farab, to the Farab\Alat border.
